Diagnosis Process of Autism and Treatment Plan

We specialise in Adult Autism diagnosis and treatment. The Diagnosis is done over 2 sessions by Chael Nel, Clinical Psychologist and Autism Specialist or Kevin Naidu, Clinical Psychologist and Autism Specialist. The diagnosis process consists of a Clinical Interview based on the diagnostic criteria of ASD Autism Spectrum Disorder as specified in the DSM 5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual) in combination with clinical judgement and many years of experience, in the specialized field of Autism.

We also offer long term Psychological Treatment, following a diagnosis (if you have already been diagnosed we will set up a treatment plan accordingly). The Treatment Plan is designed according to your individual needs, but normally consists of Psychoeducation regarding Autism, Personal Development and Interpersonal Skills, Workplace Accommodation, Dealing with Depression, Anxiety, Autism Burnout and much more. Treatment may also be claimed directly from a Prescribed Minimum Benefit Condition, through your Medical Aid, provided certain conditions are met and Approved.

Sessions can be done in Person at the Practice in Randburg or Virtually (Online) via Zoom or WhatsApp

Please note:

• This Practice Specializes in Adults and Teenagers 15 years and older only
• Younger children need to be referred to a developmental pediatrician  
• Fees are payable after each session
• Formal Diagnosis Reports are charged separately
• We charge medical aid rates and can be claimed back from medical aid should you wish too
• Autism Spectrum Disorders Assessments are done over 2 sessions, you may book 2 sessions in advance to secure appointment dates
• Our services also include various psychological treatment plans, following a diagnosis  
• This practice has a 24 hour reschedule and cancellation policy
• All booking, rescheduling and cancellations are done though the Client Portal

Our office hours are:

• RANDBURG PRACTICE: Mondays – Wednesdays: 9am-6pm & Saturdays 8am-2pm
• EDENVALE PRACTICE: Mondays-Thursdays 10am-7pm
• ONLINE VIRTUAL SESSIONS: Mondays-Thursdays 9am-7pm & Saturdays 8am-2pm
