Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects attention, impulsivity, and activity levels. It is commonly diagnosed in childhood but can continue into adulthood. Individuals with ADHD may struggle with focus, organization, time management, and impulse control.

ADHD is not just about being “hyper”—it presents in different ways, including inattentive (difficulty focusing), hyperactive-impulsive (restlessness, impulsivity), or a combination of both. While ADHD can pose challenges in daily life, with the right strategies, support, and treatment, individuals can thrive personally and professionally.

Medical Aid PMBs

Prescribed Minimum Benefits (PMBs) are the a specific set of benefits that are available to all members of a medical scheme, as set out by the Council of Medical Schemes.

Medical aid PMB applications are for the cover of the consultation costs of your treatment for certain diagnoses. In psychology, the benefit generally equates to 15 out-of-hospital consultations.

The application process takes place annually, it remains the patient’s responsibility to keep track of their benefits throughout the year, by checking in with their medical aid.

After completing the clinical part of the application forms on your behalf, we will send the application to your medical aid. As such, the application is dependant on us receiving your signed form. We cannot guarantee that the application will be successful because each medical aid has a different set of rules.

For further information or to apply for a PMB please email hello@spectrumcentre.co.za
